Is there a future for Coal Gasification (Clean Coal Technology)? Douglas Heguy Commercial Leader - Gasification GE EnergyAbstract Coal gasification technology is often referred to as “clean coal technology”. There will be a brief review of coal gasification technology and why it has earned the monikor “clean coal”.
The presentation will provide an overview of global market dynamics, where coal gasification is being applied, and why, followed by a discussion of market dynamics in the United States.
The United States is a tough market for coal plants in general. Earlier in this decade numerous government programs and incentives were created to promote coal gasification and carbon sequestration, yet few plants have been built. The issues facing developers of coal projects in the United States will be presented and discussed using actual case examples of projects currently being developed.
A question and answer session will follow.
